I love working on bespoke commissions.
I had the privilege of being involved in two commissions in the last three months. One was a wedding present for Sarah and Kerr which involved friends and family. The brief was little bits of everything that bound them together. So we included their love for music, animals, good food and wine, but most importantly an illustration by Sarah herself of a magnolia tree that holds great importance to both Sarah and Kerr.
I was also approached by a French couple to design a scarf for the husband’s mother’s 80th birthday. The scarf had to include all the things she loved. A fantastical electric mix of things; elephants, basset hounds, Paris, Venice, flowers, Buddha, books, cooking, blossom trees, dalmatians, goldfish and vivid colours. Initially I was overwhelmed by the list, but that quickly changed to excitement and I had lots of fun.
